This faculty provides a high-quality educational environment that prepares students to become valuable members of the medical team, involved in patient care and support in various healthcare settings.
With modern laboratories and advanced teaching resources, students have access to a stimulating and interactive learning environment. These facilities enable the practical application of theoretical knowledge, contributing to the development of essential skills for their future profession.
The faculty benefits from an experienced teaching staff, composed of experts in the fields of medical assistance and obstetrics. Students receive guidance and direct support from professors, contributing to their academic and professional development.

Those who wish to enroll in our courses have the opportunity to gain practical experience through clinical internships and placements in various medical facilities and maternity wards. The faculty promotes community involvement and offers students the chance to participate in projects and programs that support maternal health and medical assistance in vulnerable communities, helping them acquire a holistic and humanitarian perspective on the profession.
The faculty emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, preparing students to work in complex medical teams. Collaborations with other faculties within the university support the development of professionals with a global vision and strong teamwork skills.
The Faculty of Midwifery and Medical Assistance at UMF "Carol Davila" offers those passionate about the field the opportunity to engage in a profession essential for community health, preparing them to become competent and dedicated professionals in medical assistance and obstetrics.
The Faculty of Midwifery and Nursing was established in 2005, through Government Decision no. 916/2005, which regulated the structures of accredited or provisionally authorized higher education institutions and the specializations within university-level studies. It became the fourth faculty of the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, alongside the traditional Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy.
Currently, the Faculty of Midwifery and Nursing has four accredited specializations: Midwifery (4 years), General Nursing (4 years), Balneophysiokinetotherapy and Rehabilitation (3 years), and Dental Technology (3 years). Additionally, five specializations are provisionally authorized: Pharmacy Assistance, Dental Assistance, Audiology and Hearing Aid Technology, Clinical Laboratory, and Radiology and Imaging (each 3 years). All specializations within the Faculty of Midwifery and Nursing are offered as full-time programs, and graduates obtain a bachelor's degree upon completing the courses and passing the licensure examination.
It is also important to mention that the professions of midwife and general nurse (with four years of study) are regulated at the European Union level, benefiting from automatic recognition of the bachelor's degree obtained at UMF "Carol Davila" in all EU member states, in accordance with the provisions of European Directive 2005/36/EC.
Since its establishment, the Faculty of Midwifery and Nursing has enrolled students annually through an admission competition. Considering both the tradition of the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest and its international reputation, the quality of its faculty, and the conditions for student training, as well as the increasing demand for the specializations offered by the Faculty of Midwifery and Nursing, it is expected that this faculty will continue to grow and develop in line with national legislation, university charter, European curriculum regulations, and labor market requirements.
