Human Resources Strategy for Researchers HRS4R

In 2005, the European Commission adopted the European Charter for Researchers and a Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. These two documents, addressed to researchers as well as to research employers and funders in both the public and private sectors, are key elements in the EU's policy to boost researchers' careers. The European Charter for Researchers is a set of general principles and requirements specifying the roles, responsibilities and rights of researchers as well as those of employers and/or funders in research.

On 8.05.2022, UMFCD submitted the letter endorsing to the 40 principles of the European Charter and Code for Researchers and committing to implement the HRS4R.

On 4 June 2024, UMFCD received the award: "Excellence in Human Resources in Research", granted by the European Commission to higher education institutions, research and development institutions that respect the principles outlined in the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, thus creating favourable working conditions and a transparent recruitment process for researchers.  These principles are in line with our university's policy of attracting researchers, participating actively in the European Research Area and increasing international visibility.

The HRS4R diploma guarantees equal treatment of researchers in all European institutions and facilitates access to European research funds, thus reflecting UMFCD's commitment to continuously improve its human resources management policy in order to develop a culture of quality and successful research.

In December 2023, the European Council adopted a new streamlined version of the European Charter for Researchers, set to replace the previous Charter and Code. UMFCD remains steadfast in its endorsement of these principles and will continue to actively implement them through sustained engagement with the HRS4R process.
