UMPCD Library

UMPCD Library is coordinated by the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, subordinated to the Board of Trustees of University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Carol Davila" Bucharest and the University Senate, and is financed by the University's budget.

UMPCD Library provides for its users reading and documentary information services through:

  • access to publications in the reading room;
  • long-term public lending;
  • customized access to databases and electronic resources;
  • traditional and electronic bibliographic information;
  • training sessions and training in the use of medical information tools;
  • the library site www.biblioteca.umfcd.ro;
  • on-line references "Ask the Library" at biblioteca@umf.ro si bibliotecaumf@gmail.com

The main activities are:

  • Continuously completing the fund of documents by acquiring the scientific papers on the profile of the specializations of the university and of the field of general scientific interest;
  • Centralized records have been collected for all subsidiaries;
  • Organize the document pool and store it in accordance with the ordering principles and legal provisions for safe storage;
  • Documents communication (home loan and reading room);
  • Processing of scientific information by means of specific infodocumentary tools: catalogs, bibliographies, etc.
  • Informing users through the library's web page;
  • Promoting electronic resources and how to access them.

The main activities are:

  • Global records of collections (monographs, periodicals, electronic documents);
  • Evidence of donations (donations from individuals, donations from legal persons, publishers, diploma papers, master papers, theses and doctoral essays);
  • Internal and international exchange of publications;
  • Canceling and transferring publications.

The main activities are:

  • Cataloging and classification of publications entered into the library (content analysis, decimal classification and computerized compilation of the bibliographic description); the development of computerized bibliographic databases and the development of bibliographic products for informing readers.
  • Current and retrospective processing in the Liberty library software of publications;
  • Updating the web page of the library www.biblioteca.umfcd.ro;
  • Assistance in retrieving information from library databases.

The main activities are:

  • Managing the operations necessary for the computerization of library services (internal and external), establishing and developing electronic catalogs (general bibliographic databases and collection types), ensuring their accessibility on the Internet and capitalizing on on- line for informing users;
  • Manages the library's network: libraries network stations, network drives available to library users; card scanners, multifunction printers; 1 operational software application (Liberty);
  • Periodically updates the list of IPs of U.M.F Clinics / Departments / Hospitals. "Carol Davila";
  • Providing user and password access to databases: generates usernames and passwords, controls access to proxy, keeps track of proxy users (teachers have free access, students / doctoral students / residents must own a library card);
  • Responds to requests received at biblioteca@umf.ro and bibliotecaumf@gmail.com
  • Organizes training, web mining, information / training meetings for library-related electronic resources;
  • Makes the Library Guide a library presentation tool;
  • Provides assistance in retrieving information from library databases.

The main activities are:

  • Organizes and develops information and documentation services for library users (especially students and teachers);
  • Organizes the traditional catalogs of the library;
  • Keep records and organize book collections and serial publications from the Central Depository of the Library.

The main activities are:

  • Ensuring communication services for publications in reading rooms for students and teachers from UMPCD;
  • Documents loan at home;
  • Evidence and organization of branch libraries.
