In 2002, it was founded the Obstetrics and Gynaecology University Clinic of the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy University within the Elias University Emergency Hospital under the management of the Senior Lecturer (at that time) Dr. Radu Vladareanu. In all these years, the Clinic has expanded its number of academics and fields of clinical and research activity, becoming one of the best known clinics in Bucharest.
Since 2016, the Elias OG Discipline is called the Discipline of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Neonatology of Elias. The head of the Discipline is Prof. Dr. Radu Vladareanu.
The Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Elias University Emergency Hospital consists of 41 beds and for obstetrics and 27 beds for gynecology. It has in use a birth unit and two operating units: the gynecological one consisting of two operating rooms where laparoscopic and classical surgeries are performed and the obstetrical unit composed of a cesareans’ room and another one for small interventions. The birth unit is composed of a prelabor room, two birth rooms and a immediately postpartum room.
We provide annually a number of 2000-2500 births, but also around 800 gynecologic interventions. Since 2016, within the Clinic, it was established the Department of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
Within the OG Clinic, there are courses and practical classes of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Fetal Medicine Course (optional course) for the forth-year students of the Faculty of Medicine and for the third and forth-year students of the Faculty of Midwifery and Nursing. Also, the "Prevention and management of medical malpractice situations" optional course for the fifth year takes place within the discipline.
Regarding postgraduate studies, within the Clinic there are coordinated the National Attestation of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (since 2011) and the National Attestation of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (since 2015) with hundreds of graduates in the last 5 years. In the past 14 years, more than 100 residents have been formed in OG Elias Clinic.
Every year, dozens of undergraduate students prepare their license papers under the supervision of the clinic’s academics.
Prof. Dr. Radu Vlădăreanu is the PhD supervisor of the obstetrics and gynecology specialty and under its guidance dozens of PhD theses have been completed or are ongoing.
From 01.07.2015 to 31.12.2015, within the Clinic, it was held the POSDRU Project 189 / 2.1 / G / 155 827 entitled "10 steps towards a successful medical career" which won through competition, in partnership with UMF Carol Davila and having as beneficiary the Elias University Emergency Hospital. The project value was 1,792,420.86 lei and responded to the concrete need of guidance and profesional counseling of medical students in choosing the specialty to follow.
The project was aimed for the developement of the practical skills of working in different medical specialties (obstetrics and gynecology, neonatology, oncology, general surgery, ENT, cardiology, recovery medicine and intensive care). All participating students have received a 900 lei grant. In addition, the best 30 students, selected from the assessments of their work within the internship, were awarded with 2,500 lei.
