Discipline - General and Pharmaceutical Microbiology

Professor Arsene Andreea-Letitia, PhD tenured
Assistant Professor Nedea Marina Ionela, PhD fixed term

Pharmaceutical Microbiology was since the beginning an integrated part of the Romanian Pharmaceutical education since the time when microbes were recognized as critical factors in the evolution of the vitality and antibiotics have become the saving of it. Slowly but surely, the pharmaceutical industry has developed , targetig the progress of therapy with antibiotcs, parasitology, development of antiviral drugs and anti-mycotic, based on research and findings in the area of the mechanisms of action/bacterian-viral-micotic-human interaction.

At present, Pharmaceutical Microbiology of the Faculty of Pharmacy University in Bucharest, next to the subject of microbiology presented at faculties of Pharmacy in London, Stanford, Oxford, Yale, Harvard, is a "turublent" discpline worldwide, so that each pharmaceutical product issued in the market must have passed the tests of the "checking the microbiological pharmaceutical impurities ', which involves checking  the bacterial plaque load, viral infections and the myocitc, pyrogenic, prionic load.

In addition, Pharmaceutical Microbiology is an integrated part of the international systems of monitoring  the resistance to antibiotics, because the academic environment has access to international/national information/national useful for that purpose.

Pharmaceutical microbiology, the discipline committee of the Faculty of Pharmacy Bucharest, unlike the other top disciplines-medical pharmaceutical , prepare Romaian pharmacists Romanian, disciples in the medical-pharmaceutical challenge offered by the national system of health, but especially in the international challenges regarding this.

The Pharmaceutical Microbiology within the Faculty of Pharmacy, Bucharest, prepares specialists with the expertise in the field of pharmaceutics developmet, pharmacists of excellence for the synthesis, control and monitoring of antibacterian medication, antiviral, anti-parasite or anti-mycotic medication.

What must not be neglected is the fact that Romanian pharmacists are those who offer pharmacoterapeutical advice or prevention by vaccine for those who travel to countries in which certain continental-regional diseases may become a problem.

Course of Pharmaceutical Microbiology - 2 hours, 2 Hours Practical Laboratory - with the II year Pharmacy students of the, "Carol Davila" University, Bucharest. The course and the practical work shall be carried out in "tandem".
